Shopping for the New Season

With Autumn/Winter around the corner its time to let go of those summer dresses and begin to shop for the new season. Which excites me A LOT. I love autumn, I've actually been quite looking forward to it this year. It is also a great excuse to stack your wardrobe with new pieces!

When it comes to shopping most of the time I tend to hit the shops and purchase whatever I end up liking on that shopping trip, or when I'm doing a bit of online shopping; whichever way you tend to prefer shopping. However, this time around I've decided to make a list, a wish list you could call it, of the pieces that I most feel I need.

As I said, many times I just go in and buy whatever I see that day and end up liking however, I've come to realise that, that's probably the main reason as to why I spend soo bloody much! So, what I've began to do is make a list.

It is best to sit down and have a think about what pieces of clothing you feel are most essential. If you can't remember off the top of your head then look through your wardrobe and see what you already have which you can work with; from there decide what is needed for your new season wardrobe.

Some of the things on my list are:
- Jumpers
- A good, oversized, cosy cardigan (p.s. if anyone has seen any cardigan which fits that description please do let me know. I need it in my life!)
- Checked shirt
- Ripped jeans
-Beanies

Here are some pieces which I've got my eye on, hopefully this could also give you some inspiration for your autumn wardrobe too!

So there are a few pieces which I've got my eye on, let me know what trends/colours you've got your eye on for this next season! :)

#MusicMonday

Helloooooo! (Had to quickly check whether it was actually Monday, oops) anyone else get confused what days what when they're during the holidays? My summer holiday is still going strong (uni's tend to start much later than regular school) so I've been extra extra lazy these past few weeks. So lazy I even abandoned this blog. I don't know why, but I just ended up having zero motivation for this blog even though I thought that, given it's the summer holidays, I would be dedicating a lot more time to my blog.

Anyway, I've been meaning to find the motivation to get back into my blog for some time so hopefully this time around I won't abandon it for weeks on end!

Mondays are my blog-about-your-current-fav-song-day so here's my song of the week.
I had to think about it as I've been liking a few but I opted for this throwback number as it's just such a classic for me and one that I often forget about. Destiny's Child were a great girl group and still one of the best that we've ever had. Their single 'Emotions' is one that gets me each time. Have a listen and you'll know what I'm on about!

As I said, hopefully I'll be blogging on a regular again, as I previously planned; I have actually missed it also!
Speak to you soon :)

#MovieWednesday

Movie: John Tucker Must Die
Genre: Rom-Com
Starring: Jesse Metcalfe, Ashanti, Sophia Bush

(Image: film.com)
A movie that never fails to entertain me is John Tucker Must Die. A great feel-good, easy-to-watch, chic-flick which is probably one of my all time favourites. I'm pretty sure most people love this film and enjoy watching it. If you're looking to watch a easy to watch, entertaining rom-com then you should give this a go, or just watch it again; its one of those that you can always re-watch, am I right? or am I right?

Let me know if you love this movie, or any other movies you've been watching this summer holiday to keep you occupied. (you're not alone if you've been sitting on your laptop this holiday watching movies/tv shows whilst watching everyone else post pics of their holidays on IG and twitter. Join the club lol)

#MusicMonday

This weeks song that I've had on repeat lately is Tinashe - 2 on
I believe she is a new artist, the first time I had heard of her was a few weeks back when the remix to her 2 on single came out: Drake - 2 on/Thotful ft OB O'Brien (which is a create remix btw!) from there I listened to the original single, which is this one by Tinashe.

At first I wasn't too keen, preferring the remix to this song rather than the original. however, then came out ANOTHER remix to this song (boy do these artists love remixes) which was mixing the original with Drake's version (again great remix you should have a listen) finally! From there I began listening to the original and fell in love. Fell so in love where I do that thing where you put it on repeat for several hours...or days...

Nails - Barry M Matte

Colour: Vanilla no415
I saw someone sport this colour, or atleast one similar to it and just knew I had to have it! I wasn't sure if I was digging the whole matte nails trend but in the end I caved and I'm glad I did. I'm completely obsessed with this colour! It's become one of my favourites.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Dupe

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

The Bioderma Sensibio H2O is a beauty product that literally EVERYBODY knows about. If you don't then I don't know where you've been..living under a rock maybe?
It is essentially a cleansing water which helps, remove make-up, cleanse and soothe the skin. It is fragrance free which is always great! And is great for sensitive skin. I do like this product and as you can see my bottle is pretty much empty; needing to purchase a new cleanser this time I decided to go for the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
The Garnier cleansing water aims to do pretty much all the same things which the Bioderma water advertises. Except this is cheaper plus you get a lot more product for the price. I bought the bioderma water for, I believe, £10 for a 250ml bottle whereas the Garnier water retails at £4.99 (currently £3.33 at boots!) and you get 400ml of product. Even though the price is different it pretty much does the same thing and in my opinion they are of equal quality. Though I did enjoy using the Bioderma water I don't believe it is any better than this cheaper dupe drugstore alternative. The Garnier cleansing water is also much easier to find!

So if you wanted to give the Bioderma cleansing water a go, I say give it a go you wont be disappointed; however, if you don't wish to spend as much and bare in mind you do get less product than go for the Garnier cleansing water as it is just as great and more pocket friendly.

Movie: The Great Gatsby (2013)
Genre: Drama, Romance
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan

Great Gatsby (an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel) is one that I had been meaning to watch for about a year or so till I finally managed to see it over at my cousin's house a while back now. I was utterly amazed by the cinematography of it all; the directing, actors, fashion, the whole shebang! It was hands down one of the most, if not the most beautifully visual movie I've ever watched.

The story is narrated through the character, Nick Carraway who befriends his neighbour, Gatsby. Gatsby is known to throw lavish parties like no one else does (seriously watch the movie and you will see just how incredible it all is, if there ever is a party like that I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world!) Gatsby is in love with Mulligan's character, Daisy. As Nick enters Gatsby's world he realises however just how obsessive, crazy and passionate Gatsby can be at times. If you thought DiCaprio couldn't get any better, think again. Oh side note, I really don't understand how he doesn't have like 5 Oscars already; its ridiculous! Watch the trailer on the link below.

Summer - L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream

As its summer no one really likes to slap on a butt load of foundation. Summer is the time where many tend to prefer a lighter base, including me. This summer I've been reaching for my L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream.
The one I've purchased is for consumers with medium skin tone; it claims to be a 5 in 1.
- Flawless coverage
- Perfectly even skin texture
- Fresh dewy glow
- 24H hydration
- Protects with SPF12
I do really like this product however, I don't believe it necessarily provides your skin with a flawless coverage, as it is a light coverage BB cream, regarding the 24h hydration I'm also not sure if it does that as I don't keep it on for 24 hours!

However, as I said I do really like this product and have been using it frequently over the past few weeks. As you take it out it is a purple/grey-ish colour however as soon as you blend it onto your face you are left with a even skin tone and a beautiful dewy glow. I love it for summer as it doesn't feel heavy on your skin at all and that is something that I think most of us want especially around summer time. It does pretty much stay on for the duration of time that I'm out as well. All-in-all I enjoy using this very much and L'Oreal never fails to make me a happy customer.

if you are looking for a light-weight base product for the summer than I highly recommend giving this a go. Do let me know if you've tried it and what your thoughts are!

Nails - Kiko no470

It's a double-post kinda day! I feel kinda bad and a bit disappointed in myself that I haven't been posting as much as I would like (wow that sounded dramatic, cringe) so I thought I'd post my usual #musicmonday post today and a more beauty related post.

This nail vanish from Kiko is part of their summer releases, I purchased it a few weeks ago now and have been meaning to blog about it. I LOVE this colour it has turned out to be one of my favourites for the summer. it is a beautiful pink with gorgeous hints of gold shimmer. its not glitter. Its shimmer.
The picture is not doing it enough justice! It is easy and quick to apply, needing 1 max 2 coats and you're good to go! It is also available in green and blue, had I known how much I would fall in love with it I would of gotten another colour. (Dw I'll probably end up purchasing them next time I go in there ha)

#HappySunday

I like this week's quote as its a quote in which I can learn from and have been trying for a while. There have been times where my instant response to something/someone has been with anger; however I've realised as I've grown up a little bit that it doesn't do me much favours.

(image: quotesvalley)
I now try to stop myself from responding in an angry manner, as it only frustrates me more and usually worsens the situation. When I'm in a situation where I feel that I am getting frustrated and angry with someone I tend to now try to calm myself down by, reminding myself to not react immediately and know that sometimes silence is the best response. If you're like me and you get bothered by the fact that you get angry so quickly in situations then try to find a way to calm yourself down. Or like me remind yourself to just think before you speak. If you've already been in a similar situation where its led to you being angry however, nothing good coming out of such a angered response then let that be a reminder to yourself not to do react in the same manner again and aim to just get yourself out of the situation.
Speak to you soon :)

Starring: Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans
(Image: Wikipedia)
This weeks movie is a comedy classic that everybody loves; White Chicks! White Chicks is one of my all time favs that can instantly put anyone in a better mood. It's one of those, if I watch it 99 times on the 100th time I still won't be bored or sick of it.

Summer: park life

My second 'summer' post is me showing you what I like to take with me when I'm just having a chilled day in the sun at a park with friends. Hint: I don't pack light!

First off I finally bought a blanket! Well, it's actually a throw but I plan on using it as my 'park blanket'. Been meaning to purchase one since like, God knows how many years ago.

My sunscreen cause durhhh and a mini deodorant cause durhhhh

Sunglasses; these are my other ones, from Asos.

A book, I'm currently reading 'The Devil Wears Prada'

A camera, I've been enjoying using a disposable camera as of late! I got mine from Boots, I believe they are £10 for 27 pictures.

And these are some extra things that I bring along with me also. Lipsticks, concealer, hand cream, nail vanish's cause yaknow why not? #Yolo (I'm clearly living life on the edge!)

So these are the things that I take with me, hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know how your summer has been so far. The weather in the UK has been great these past few weeks, except for a couple of off days, other than that I'm pretty impressed with the weather this summer!

'This is not a love story, it's a story about love.' - 500 Days of Summer

This weeks movie: 500 Days Of Summer (2009)
Genre: Comedy/Drama/Romance
Starring: Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt

(Image: filmophilia)
500 Days Of Summer is a movie that I love and loathe at the same time. The story is based on Summer who doesn't believe true love exists and meets a young man, Tom, who happens to fall in love with her over the next 500 days. I love this movie however, at the same time by the end of it I just felt sad and it made me question a lot of things. Haha it sounds all so dramatic but I dunno it's just how I ended up feeling by the end. I truly recommend you watching, before I watched it people always raved about it and how it was a must see; now I'm telling you the same. Here's the trailer below to get a little feel of how the movie unfolds.

#MusicMonday

In honour of this years World Cup (who has been watching?!) which has been amazing so far! I love the World Cup, I've been so excited this whole year counting down till it finally started. Anyways, back to the music; this weeks song is the 2014 World Cup official single. If you haven't heard it yet listen to it below.

I'm not gonna lie the opening ceremony wasn't great at all however the actual football has been amazing! My favourite match so far has been the Spain vs Netherlands. If you didn't know, I used to live in holland and I consider myself Dutch (my nationality is Dutch) so ofcourse they are my number one team that I support. If you remember 2010 World Cup we lost in the final to Spain and I have hated that team ever since! I'm sorry if that offends anyone but I'm not gonna lie, I don't really care. In my defence I was heartbroken when we lost. As you can see I can hold a grudge or two which I'm not even gonna deny, its pretty obvious; football can get personal sometimes okay! I'm sure sports fans understand this. So the first match which we WON 5-1 was the BEST match I have ever seen. Revenge is sweet and it deffo was! If you follow me on twitter you'll know how happy I was. Haha!

Anyways, this is my song of the week, what's yours? And let me know who you support in the World Cup.
P.s. I support England also but now there's no point since were already out, sighh I had faith but I guess it was pointless.

Summer beauty essentials

As it's summer I thought I'd share with you my summer beauty essentials, from make-up to skin care.

First off, you gotta get rid of the hair. Yes, it's not winter where you can get away with not shaving your legs for a few weeks (guilty) as summer has come around, thus far Britain has actually managed to see some beautiful sunny days so legs were deffo coming out! Here are some products that you can use, whichever method you prefer.

Next up is sunscreen. Now we all need sunscreen, you've got to protect your skin; we don't want to end up with painful red burning skin so sunscreen is everyone's BFF during summer. This is the one I'm currently using. The Garnier Ambre Solaire Moisturising Protection Spray  SPF15.

Another essential is deodorant, which is pretty self explanatory. In addition to this I also use the Oil Free Moisturising Day Cream to keep my face hydrated and the Nivea Hydro Care SPF15 lip balm to keep my lips hydrated.

Make-up wise, during hotter days I prefer to not use foundation as I find it a little much during this time of the year; for day to day life anyway. I'm currently loving this L'oreal BB Cream it gives you very light coverage so I only use it when I feel confident enough with my skin. It feels very light, gives your skin a nice glow and all in all is a product that makes me very happy. I've repurchased this as I had it last summer also.

Next up is lipsticks! These are some of the lipsticks that I have been loving atm. Elizabeth Arden  - Tropicoral no11, Mac - Dubonnet A73, Rimmel London - no101 and Topshop - Mink.

Last but not least, here are some extra summer essentials.

My sunglasses which are from Topshop.

And my current favourite chunky necklace from Topshop

And some scrunchies! My current obsession. I plan on doing a seperate post on them in the near future just because. The large pink and green with polka dots are from New Look, the tartan and flower print are from Topshop and the mini ones below are from India, a friend got me them.

So there you have it, those are my summer essentials, what are yours?

#MovieWednesday

As the sequal has just arrived in cinemas I thought I'd dedicate this weeks #moviewednesday post to 21 Jump Street. I watched it a while back on Netflix and found that it was surprisingly funnier and better than I expected it to be. I mean from the trailer it looked great but that's why I was sceptical in the first place; usually with comedies when the trailer is really great and funny I've found that once you actually watch the movie you are left being a little let down as it just doesn't always live up to the trailers expectations. Actually come to think of it, this happens with various movie genres.
(Image: Sony pictures)
Anyway, if you've yet to see 21 Jump Street (starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as cops) then you definetly should and it really is worth watching. Here's the trailer below.

The sequel that's just been released, 22 Jump Street looks great however I have read that people were left a little disappointed as it wasn't as great as the first one. To be fair, with sequels I find that they're never as good as the original movie anyway so I never really expect it to be. Nonetheless, from the trailer it appears like a fun, feel-good movie to watch and I'm deffo gonna give it a go and see how it is. Here's the trailer below.

This weeks is a throwback number. Christina Aguilera was one of the stars that were up and coming during the whole Britney era (I myself was a HUGE Britney fan. Totally fangirled over her!) I liked Aguilera but was never as keen on her if I'm honest.

However, one of her older tunes that I think pretty much everybody loved was 'Genie in a bottle.' It's one of those throwback classics. Here's a link below for you to reminisce bout those good ole' days.

#HappySunday

There are times in your life where you feel irritated and frustrated by the fact that things aren't going the direction in which you want it to. Feeling like the complete opposite of what you've always wished for has headed to your direction instead of what you really wanted. I know, because I have felt like that and still do at times.

However, there are times where you have to remind yourself that everything happens for a reason, and I'm a true believer of that; carry on with what you're doing now and know that you're exactly where you're meant to be. So here's my quote for your hopefully great Sunday.

L'Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer

I purchased this primer a while back now and have been using it on a regular basis. I think I saw it being mentioned in one of fleurdeforce's videos quite a while ago now and it just stuck with me, which I'm glad it did. The primer aims to 'provide a light enriching base which illuminates the skin.'

As you pump the product out it is white, however don't be alarmed as, as soon as you apply it onto your skin it just blends in with your skin tone really well whilst leaving you with beautiful glowing skin. It doesn't appear glittery/sparkly or anything like that, it just helps your skin glow and appear so natural at the same time. Once you apply your foundation or whatever you choose to use, if it's not a powder anyway, you will still see the glow shine through over your foundation which is great!(I find that once I have powder my face the glow tends to disappear a little, although tbh I did expect that to happen.) I was worried that once I applied my foundation or well, atm I've been enjoying using my CC cream, the glow would no longer be there as much but it is and you could get away with not needing to apply highlighter if you wanted to as the primer gives you a natural subtle highlighter-effect kinda glow.

It also helps apply my foundation/CC cream smoother AND actually appear smoother. As it helps with areas on your face that may usually be a little dry which can come off on your foundation, or areas where you've had spots or blemishes which can also be quite dry or flakey, the (loreal) helps get rid of that. As it is a drugstore product it is also not too expensive which is always great! It retails at £9.99. (You can purchase HERE )

Farmers life + OOTD

The other day me and two of my friends, Annie and Lucy headed to a farm as it was finally a dry day in England. It was really fun and all the animals were so adorable (besides the pigs but I dunno I'm just not big on pigs) and I took some pictures of the day. I also made sure I took a selfie with all of them ha!

I know you can't see my bag in this picture but you can see it a little bit more in the third to last picture. Oh and shoutout to Annie, 4 of these pictures were actually captured by her (like the epic picture of the donkey!)
